Get Involved with bargaining

We are currently in bargaining with Carleton University. Our two Collective Agreements have expired at the end of the summer, and we are now several months into this bargaining round. Though we have made some progress at the negotiations table, your continued support and involvement is needed to ensure we get the best possible deal for the thousands of CUPE 4600 workers at Carleton.

Attend a bargaining session

Members from each unit are welcome to observe a bargaining session. To attend, you will need to sign up by filling out this form. A member of the bargaining committee will then get in touch with you to coordinate your attendance.

Sign our petition

We have already collected over a thousand signatures on our petition. Add your name to our open letter, and have it sent directly to the Carleton admins that we negotiate with. You can sign the letter at this link.

Join the Mobilization Committee

The Mobilization Committee is getting busier, with lots of outreach work being done to make sure we are fully mobilized and ready to win big at the bargaining table! If you have a bit of time, and would like to get involved with visiting offices, planning events, organizing info-pickets, and making phone calls, we would love to have you!

The Mobilization Committee meetings are chaired by a Unit 1 chair and a Unit 2 chair, and members from both units are welcome to attend. The meetings are currently held online

Join the Strike Committee

The Strike Committee is tasked with implementing the logistics of the strike. Everything from booking the strike office, gathering the necessary paperwork, scheduling picketing shifts, to ordering megaphones, and everything in between goes through the Strike Committee. If you like to focus on details and logistics, the Strike Committee would be happy to have you! Join this committee by emailing strike@cupe4600.ca

Sign up to become a picket captain

Picket captains play a crucial role in maintaining safe and effective picket lines. As a picket captain you will be tasked with ensuring members are signing in and out of their picketing shifts, keeping track of incidents, communicating with other picket lines, liaising with campus safety and Ottawa police, keeping the energy up, and making sure business as usual is fully disrupted. Sign up to become a picket captain by emailing strike@cupe4600.ca
