The External Affairs Committee meets to discuss pressing issues on and off campus as well as engage in outreach with various unions and organizations throughout Ottawa and beyond.

Guided by member priorities, the Unit 1 bargaining research committee is working on the TA & RA opening package for bargaining with Carleton. The first bargaining day is wed Sept 24th. The biggest member priorities this round are: cost of living, TA to student ratio, and benefits. Come fight for what we need. All unit 1 members welcome.

With a new term set to start in a few weeks, we invite all members of Unit 2 to join us for a Caucus meeting, to be immediately followed by a social event. At the end of this month, our Collective Agreement expires and meetings with the employer to negotiate a new agreement will commence. An engaged, informed, and mobilized membership is key to supporting our Bargaining Team in getting the best deal possible.
Join us to hear about the member-driven proposals we are bringing to the table this year, and learn about ways to get involved. We still have one open spot on the Unit 2 Bargaining Team, but there are other ways to get involved, including joining the work of the Bargaining Research Committee and/or the Mobilization Committee.
The Unit 2 Caucus (6:00-7:30pm) will be held in 482 MacOdrum Library, immediately after which we will migrate over to Mike’s Place for a social event (and free snacks!).
All Contract Instructors are invited to join us on Zoom for our bi-weekly Unit 2 Bargaining Research Committee meetings. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 14th at 8:00pm, with future meetings happening every two weeks on the same day (Wednesdays) and at the same time (8:00pm).
This is for members who would like to help the local identify needed changes in the Collective Agreement, draft possible bargaining proposals, research Collective Agreements of locals similar to ours, and help CUPE 4600 prepare for a successful round of bargaining in 2025. New members are always welcome!
